Western Canada Chapter Hosts 31st Annual General Meeting in Kamloops, BC

The Western Canada Chapter of ISEE held its 31st Annual General Meeting April 24-26 in Kamloops, BC, bringing together professionals for training, certification, and networking. Highlights included technical presentations, the Regulator Roundup, and the election of new officers. The event concluded with a banquet, casino night, and $4,000 in scholarships, with the next AGM set for April 23–25, 2026, at the Coast Kamloops Hotel and Conference Centre.

The Western Canada Chapter of ISEE held its 31st Annual General Meeting (AGM) April 24–26 in Kamloops, British Columbia. The three-day event brought together professionals from across the region for technical training, certification, and networking.

The conference began with a Level 1 Construction Blasting Course for 33 participants, followed by a panel discussion on the consultant’s role in blasting operations and a membership forum on industry challenges.

Friday’s activities included WorkSafe BC certification exams, BC Mines interviews, a golf outing, target shoot, and evening welcome reception featuring 16 exhibitors.

During Saturday’s AGM, new officers were elected: Jared Wells (President), Kira Sheehy and Alastair Grogan (Vice Presidents), Chris Elliott (Treasurer), Chris Fahr (Secretary), and Paul Jeannotte (Past President). A full day of presentations followed, covering topics from vibration mitigation and electronic detonators to safety practices and proactive claims management.

The Regulator Roundup featured representatives from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Alberta Ministry of Labour, and BC Ministry of Mines and Critical Minerals. Keynote speakers Alex Sibley of Precision Blasting Services and Ron Gilbert of Dykon Demolition discussed explosive demolition best practices.

The event concluded with a banquet, casino night, and scholarship awards totaling $4,000. The Western Canada Chapter extends thanks to its 18 sponsors for their support.

The 32nd AGM will be held April 23–25, 2026, at the Coast Kamloops Hotel and Conference Centre.
