David Michael Thomas, 70, of Spofford, passed away on Aug. 5, 2019, with family by his side, following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on August 4, 1949, in Plattsburg, N.Y., son of Carl and Betty Thomas.

Dave and his family relocated to Keene in 1957, where he attended Keene High School and graduated with the class of 1967. He went on to study at New Hampshire Technical Institute and graduated in 1969. Following his education, he enlisted with the United States Army and served from 1972 to 1974. In 1973, he married Linda Harlow whom he built a wonderful life with for 47 years. Settled back home, he began working for the family business, Carl B. Thomas Construction Company, which he went on to run successfully with his sister Lynn.

As an active member of the community, Dave served as a Spofford Fire Commissioner since 1998. He was a dedicated member of the International Society of Explosive Engineers and held the title of President from 1995 to 1997.
Dave was a special, talented, generous man with a wonderful sense of humor. He had a brilliant mind and was a true jack-of-all-trades. Dave was a beloved grandfather who cherished his family deeply. He enjoyed spending winters in Florida, giving boat rides to his grandchildren, and traveling with family and friends. He was passionate about golf and the New England Patriots.

Dave will be dearly missed by his wife Linda; sons: Matthew and his wife Merav, Jason and his wife Sarah, and Jonathan and his wife Jennifer; six grandchildren: Delia, Maeva, Finley, Lior, Maxwell, and Netta; brother Chris and his wife Donna; sister Lynn and her fiancé Steve; as well as eight nieces, three nephews, and countless friends.

He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Jeffrey.

Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, August 12 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral Home, 33 Marlboro Street, Keene, NH. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 13 at 10:00 am at the United Church of Christ, 23 Central Square, Keene, N.H.

Albert Gordon Shaw, 80, of Venice, passed away on April 29, 2019, surrounded by his loving wife and daughter Lucie. Albert preferred to be known as Gordon and his friends called him Gord.
Gordon was born on March 8, 1939, to the late George A. and Mabel E. (Hamilton) Shaw in Hamiota, Manitoba, Canada.

Gordon was devoted to the advance of noise and vibration loss control for the mining and civil construction industry. Some of his proudest accomplishments involved his work with the Ministry of the Environment and Energy; the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; and the U.S. Bureau of Mines. He authored several publications, lectured and developed bylaws as well as specifications adopted by municipalities and different levels of the government throughout North America.

Gordon was magnanimous man. He was a man of wisdom, a compassionate individual, had a very positive attitude and was friendly nature. He was a gifted learner. He had an outstanding memory for details and possessed a lot of information about various topics.

Gordon built business and life for others, and his legacy is going to continue in the future generations.

For his environmental work abroad, Gordon has high respect in Canada, Poland and Czech Republic.

Gordon has been known as a real gentleman; he was so proud as he was in that regard like his father.

Gordon profoundly loved his parents and had high admiration for their love.

Gordon is survived by his beloved wife Zuzana, father to Lucie of Venice, George, Lisanne, Nicole of Canada, and Michelle of Australia.

A visitation with the family will be held 8-10 a.m. Wednesday, May 8 in the Farley Funeral Home Venice Chapel located at 265 S. Nokomis Ave. in Venice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held following the visitation at 11:00am in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church located at 1301 Center Rd. in Venice.

Stanley Lippincott, 86, passed away Dec. 12, 2018. Stanley was born on March 31, 1932, in Salem, N.J., to Stanley and Clara Lippincott.

He graduated from Bucknell University in 1953 earning a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. He worked for E.I. DuPont Demours from 1952 - 1988. He started as a production supervisor overseeing the manufacture of acid and ammonium nitrate as well as various dynamites and blasting agents. During his 36 years at DuPont, he held numerous management positions in explosives manufacturing; research and development; patents and licensing; and sales and marketing. Through his work, he lived in many locations including New Jersey, Alabama, Maryland, Minnesota, Brazil, Pennsylvania, and Delaware.

In 1988, he became the planning and corporate development manager for ETI, assisting with that company’s transition after it bought DuPont. Then in 1990, he started his own company Explosives Educational Services.

Stanley was an avid supporter of International Society of Explosives Engineers (ISEE), promoting ISEE through his training programs and endorsing many members. Stan was instrumental in helping ISEE obtain the rights from ETI to publish the Blasters’ Handbook. He was also the chairman of the adhoc Blasters’ Handbook Committee that worked towards publishing the 17th Edition ISEE Blasters’ Handbook.

Stanley served two separate terms on the ISEE Board of Directors. He chaired or was involved with several ISEE committees including the International Committee, Education Committee, and the Blasters’ Handbook Committee. He was a contributor to the ISEE Certificate Program Level 1. In 2003, he was awarded the ISEE Distinguished Service Award, the highest honor achieved from the explosives industry at that time.

Stanley had a passion for baseball and spent much time attending spring training camps in Florida and Arizona.

He is survived by his wife Carol Lippincott, of Granbury, Texas; children Stephen Lippincott, of Portland, Ore., and Alise Morkides, of Greenville, Del.; step-children Barry Chaikin, Karl Chaikin, and Scott Chaikin, all of Dallas; and grandchildren Aaron Lippincott, of Australia, Kinia Morkides, of Delaware, and Kayla Chaikin, of Dallas.

Fred L. DeGasperin, 59, of Warren, Mich., formerly of Bruceton Mills, W.Va., died on Oct. 25, 2018, at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Mich.
Fred was born February 19, 1959, in Troy, Ohio, a son of the late Fred and wife Anna Belle "A.B." (Liston) DeGasperin.

He was a graduate of Miami East High School in 1977 and graduated from WVU in 1981 with a degree in mining engineering. Fred was a U.S. veteran of the United States Airforce. He served during Desert Storm and was a crew member on a B-52 from 1985-1992. He worked as a sales representative for Ensign-Bickford Company. Fred retired as a mining inspector in West Virginia in 2016.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy McLaughlin; his sisters Mary Ann (Steve) Karnes, Toni DeGasperin; nieces and nephews, Heather (Scott) Schmalbach, Eric (Ashley) Karnes, Lindsay Christie, Sean Christie, Christie (Alex) Visconti, Stephanie (Matt) Alexander, Kyle McLaughlin, Sheila, Rachel, and Erin Madding, Jenny (Aaron) Welch, Alex and Emma McLaughlin, Joshua Wendland, Danielle (Joshua) Koenig, Sara Wendland; great-nieces and nephews, Sydney, Dean and Xander Schmalbach, Kaia Karnes, Bella Madding, and Autumn Wendland; mother-in-law, Sue Kelly; sisters-in-law, Patty Madding and Karen Wendland; brothers-in-law, Mark McLaughlin, David (Rose) McLaughlin.

Friends will be received at the St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 324 East Main Street; on Saturday, November 10, 2018, from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Father Andy Switzer as Celebrant. Interment will follow at the St. Joseph's Cemetery, Howesville, where graveside Military Honors will be accorded. A fellowship meal will be provided following the graveside service.

Anthony (Tony) Dale McLaughlin, 79, Kansas City, Mo., passed away on October 22, 2018, at his home. He lived in Kansas City since 1968, and previously lived in Hamilton, Mo.

Tony was born on August 28, 1939, in Clarion, Iowa, to Lester Dale and Leola Elizabeth (Lord) McLaughlin. He was a 1958 graduate of the Penney High School, Hamilton. He worked for Trager Limestone Quarry, Hamilton. He started working at Hunt Midwest Enterprises in 1969 and retired 47 years later going from heavy equipment operator to plant superintendent, manager of eastern operations and director of special projects.

He was a member of the Faubion United Methodist Church in Gladstone, Mo., a life-time member of the Missouri Limestone Association, and an avid fisherman and hard-core Chiefs fan. He and Sue spent the last 10 years wintering in Weslaco, Texas, at RVE with their winter family.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-Rhonda Duffin; 2 brothers-Daryl Baker and Ronald McLaughlin; and a sister-Karel Hazzard.

He married Susan Crotty on May 22, 1971, in Kansas City. Susan survives of the home.

Additional survivors: 3 daughters-Susan Lynn Dwire (Jon), Cross Timbers, Mo.; Karen Miller (Ronnie), Hamilton; and Tracey Young, Saint Simons Island, Georgia; 4 granddaughters-Kari Smith, Stevie McLaughlin, Alexis Dunn, and Toni McLaughlin; 4 great-grandsons-C.J. Dilly, Lane Dilly, Arthur Taylor Grissom IV, and Jayden Mortell; and 2 sisters-Doreen Hacker, Winston, Mo., and Marlene Hemminger, Cameron, Mo.

Funeral Service: 1 p.m., Saturday, October 27, 2018, at the Hamilton Federated Church, Hamilton.

Visitation: 6:30 to 8 p.m., Friday, October 26, at the Faubion United Methodist Church, 7113 N. Troost, Gladstone, Mo., 64118.

Interment: Highland Cemetery, Hamilton.
