The ISEE will host an online silent auction during the 45th annual conference. Anyone with internet access and a computer or mobile device will be able to bid on dozens of packages before and during the conference.

Silent auction packages will be available for viewing and bidding for the duration of the annual conference and will end Jan. 29, 2019, during the Grand Finale Gala. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the ISEE Scholarship Fund, which awards scholarships to college students pursuing a technical, undergraduate, masters or doctorate degrees in fields related to the commercial explosives industries. To date, the SEE Foundation Scholarship Fund has awarded more than $662,000 to nearly 500 students.

Make your plans now to attend the ISEE 45th Annual Conference on Explosives & Blasting Technique, and register by Nov. 30 to receive discounted early bird rates. The event will be held Jan. 27 - 30, 2019, at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, Tenn.

As many as 1,600 blasters, manufacturers, government officials and suppliers gather from all over the world to gain new insights and to form new business alliances.

The 2019 program includes a dynamic education program featuring technical sessions, poster session and workshops combined with more than 130 exhibits on the latest technology. Opening speaker David Houle is a futurist, thinker and speaker. He will discuss emerging global trends and how they could affect the future of the explosives industry. Houle spent more than 20 years in media and entertainment. He has worked at NBC, CBS and was part of the senior executive team that created and launched MTV, Nickelodeon, VH1 and CNN Headline News.

Houle has won two Emmys, the prestigious George Foster Peabody Award and the Heartland award for Hank Aaron: Chasing the Dream. He was also nominated for an Academy Award.

Throughout the last 11 years, he has delivered more than 900 keynotes and presentations in 16 countries. Houle is often called "the CEOs’ Futurist," having spoken to or advised more than 4,000 CEOs and business owners throughout the past decade.

He will give his presentation at 8 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28 at opening session of the 45th Annual Conference on Explosives & Blasting Technique held in Nashville, Tenn.

The ISEE is committed to keeping standards current with the best available technology and procedures and by policy requires the standards to be reviewed and modified every five years. The current standard scheduled for review is the Field Practice Guideline for Blasting Seismographs - 2015 Edition. This document may be viewed here.

The ISEE Standards Committee is asking for any public comment or proposed changes to the existing standard. Written comments that are received by the deadline will be addressed by the Standards Committee in writing prior to modification of the standard. Subsequently, a draft standard will be published in the Journal of Explosives Engineering for public comment.

Please include the following information with any proposed change:

  1. Name, Company/Organization, Address and Telephone number.
  2. Recommendation; New Text, Revised Text, and/or Deleted Text.
  3. Proposed Change; include the proposed new or revised wording or identify the wording to be deleted.
  4. Discuss the reason for the proposed change and substantiate the proposal; State the problem/concern that will be resolved by your recommendation(s) and give the specific reasons for the proposed change.
  5. Provide reference material to support the proposal; include topics of testing, research papers, etc.

The ISEE Board of Directors Election is now underway. Eligible voters, all members in good standing with the exception of student members, can cast votes until Nov. 30, 2018.

Eligible voters with an email on file should have received an email with step-by-step instructions for casting a vote online. Members who don’t have an email address on file will soon be receiving print ballots in the mail.

ISEE members who are eligible to vote on constitutional changes will also see several proposed amendments. Please read each proposed change carefully, and select whether you approve or do not approve of the proposed changes.
